Issard - Thiers
A business still going strong after more than a hundred years, this cutlery specialiased in the production of traditional pocket knives and folding hunting knives.
Company over a century old, specializing in traditional pocket knives and folding hunting knives.
It is the grandfather of the generation currently who created the cutlery activity within the family. Based in the Thier mountains, the Issard family makes traditional French knives. One of the flagship products is the Bouledogue which was manufactured for a major brand in the Saint-Etienne region. But, they also manufacture Le Thiers ® knives, shuttles, and different versions of hunting knives.
The materials used are traditional. Steel is more often stainless steel than carbon steel. The handles are ebony, juniper, olive, and deer antlers for hunting knives.
Unfortunately, the last of the Issard sons died. It is therefore very difficult to find Issard knives which have become collectors' knives.
