Le Saint Bernard was designed and developed with Robert Beillonnet, twice MOF (Meilleur ouvrier de France: ).
The Blade of Le Saint Bernard is decorated with a chimney sweep: In the XIXth century, the tradition of the little chimney sweeps from Savoy brought sompe children from Savoy to go on the roads of France to clean the chimneys in the towns, in order to flee poverty of the numerous families. They were recognizable with the chimney brush and scale as well as mais the top hat they were carrying. Through their work, which they were doing singing, they protected the houses from fire.
So the little chimney sweep became a charm and the joyful and cute emblem of the Savoy.
Since 1995, Fontenille-Pataud has restarted production of fine folding knives, specifically the LAGUIOLE knives. IN 1997 the brand Gilles®is created and patented. It protects and signs their work.
It was a major decision to adopt as a policy "home and handmade in France".
